Sir Elton Hercules John, also known as Elton John, is a pop music legend. He is mainly a British singer. He is also a pianist and also a composer. He is known for his music in the British music industry. His work during the 1970s had a great impact on the music world and he became a popular name in the music industry. He became an international star at that time. He was also successful in the field of songwriting. He made his debut in 1969 with the album “Empty Sky”. After that, he released his first hit single in 1970 named “Your Song”. In the same year, he formed the Elton John Band.

John Elton was a famous personality in the early 20th century because of his musical talent. His career included the successful sale of several million records. At the age of 11, he received a scholarship from the Royal Academy. He also joined the band Bluesology and later worked with John Baldry. He first became a British pop star with the song Lady Samantha in 1968. He was famous for his supreme talent of blending diverse pop and rock styles into an extroverted, energetic kind of sound. He was one of the first individuals to record songs using acoustic piano and electric guitar.

His first hit in the US was “Your Song.” It was a love song that was very popular. During the early 1970s, he released several songs that paid tribute to various folk and country rock artists such as Nash, The Band, and Crosby. John became one of the world’s best-selling pop performers by 1973. His other popular works were – ‘The Bitch is Back’(1974), ‘Blue Eyes (1982), ‘Rock and Roll (1950), ‘Crocodile Rock’ (1972),  ‘Philadelphia Soul’(“Philadelphia Freedom” (1975)),’ Burn Down the Mission’(1971) and ‘Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding’(1973). ‘Rocket Man’ (1972) and ‘Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me’ were his famous songs of that time. Elton John made a world record for selling the most singles.

On March 25, 1947, Elton John was born in Pinner, Middlesex, England. He was named as ‘Reginald Kenneth Dwight’ after birth. He is now 76 years old. His nationality is British and his zodiac sign is Aries.

Education

He completed school at Pinner Wood Junior School, Reddiford School and Pinner County Grammar School. When he was 17, then he dropped his A-Level examinations to focus totally on music.

Family

The name of his father is Stanley Dwight and his mother is Sheila Eileen Dwight. He was raised in Pinner by his maternal grandparents. His father worked in the Royal Air Force. His father didn’t his approve of his choice of career in music because he thought it was not a secure option for a career. Both his parents were kinda musically involved, his father had a trumpet player and he also played at military dances. John’s mother supported him in this.

Seeing his parents argue over things made him stressed at a young age which affected his mental health. Later when he was 14, his parents got divorced. His mother then married a local painter. His new father was supportive of John regarding his career. In December 1991, his father passed away. On 4 December 2017, his mother passed away while suffering from cancer. Geoff Dwight, Stan Dwight, Robert Dwight, and Simon Dwight are the name of his four siblings. He was the eldest of his siblings.

He is bisexual and announced his sexuality in 1976.He first married Renate Blauel(1984-1988). He married David Furnish in 2014. Before that, he was in a civil partnership for more than 9 years. They have two sons, Zachary and Elijah, who were both born by surrogacy.

Career

John decided to pursue his career in music when he was only 17. John used to play his grandmother’s piano when he was young. His talent was recognized by his mother at that time. He used to perform at family gatherings and parties. He started to join piano classes at the age of seven. Royal Academy of Music gave him a scholarship when he was only 11. After that, John attended classes at the Academy in central London on Saturdays. He used to enjoy playing Frédéric Chopin and during those classes. But he was not an attentive student. John kind of regretted going to the academy later as he was naturally talented and could get away without any pressure.

Sometimes he used to skip classes to roam around. Some of the instructors addressed him as “model student’ because of his gifted talents. But before taking final exams, he left the Academy. After his parents’ divorce, they moved into a new flat. After moving to the new flat, John wrote the songs that made him a rockstar in front of the audience. While living there, he launched four albums simultaneously that took place in the American Top 40. Throughout his career, he launched songs like Tiny Dancer (1971), I Think It’s Going To Be a Long, Long Time) (1972), Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting (1973), Bennie and the Jets (1974), Sorry Seems To Be the Hardest Word (1976), Song for Guy (1978), Are You Ready for Love (remix) (2003), I Want Love (2001),  When Love Is Dying (with Leon Russell) (2010), The Ballad of Blind Tom (2013) and many more.
