Former NFL player Derrick Ward, aged 43, got arrested this week by the police in Southern California. He’s said to be involved in multiple thefts. The arrest happened on Monday, and as of Wednesday, Ward is still in custody, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department records.
Records show that Ward, who used to play for the New York Giants and won a Super Bowl with them in 2008, is facing at least one serious charge. His bail is set at $250,000.

Police claim Ward robbed about five businesses in Southern California. Though they say he didn’t use a gun in these thefts, TMZ reports that he did use force.
It’s not clear if Ward has a lawyer yet. He hasn’t entered a plea, and there’s no news about when his court date might be.

Ward, a California native, played college football at Fresno State and Ottawa University before joining the NFL. He played for several teams during his seven-year career, including the New York Jets, New York Giants, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Houston Texans.
During his time with the Giants, Ward was part of the team’s incredible run to win the 2007-08 Super Bowl, even though he missed the game due to a leg injury he got earlier in the season. He was known as the ‘Wind’ in the Giants’ ‘Earth, Wind, and Fire’ backfield because of his running style and laid-back personality.
